About Me

Personal Stuff

I'm a lifelong Austinite who loves karaoke, The Sopranos, sewing poorly, and playing with other people's dogs. I spend a lot of my free time working on my house -- through the magic of YouTube, I can now do somewhat shoddy drywall!

I scroll on Twitter too much, and I can get too into the internet thing of the month. Sometimes they let me announce at local wrestling shows, (ask me about it!)

My UX philosophy is to center the user whenever possible, while still recognizing the importance of meeting business goals and recognizing technology restraints. Feedback from real users along the way is essential on the path to a great product. Nothing delights me quite like noticing clear patterns in user feedback that we can use to make a flow simpler or more intuitive, whether after a day of usability testing or when I'm crunching the numbers on a quantitative study.

I can be a nerd about designing the perfect interaction, and I love doing competitive analyses to check on what's best practice, what's an emerging trend, and whats old news in interface design. I'm happiest when I'm turning feedback into wireframes or ideating on solutions for a stumper of a flow.

Ethics and accessibility in UX is important to me, and at every step along building a product I try to keep these things at front of mind, avoiding dark patterns and making sure all types of people can safely & effectively use whatever product I have a hand in designing.

I believe teamwork and differing viewpoints are essential to making digital products great, so I thrive in environments where I'm able to seek the input of colleagues from multiple disciplines across a company. I love to work cross-functionally to understand every angle of a product; in addition to users, my teammates know I try to speak to sales, customer success, and any other user-facing colleague I can steal an hour from.

I'm a lifelong learner, which helps me to be a good teacher as well. What I don't know, I'll go find out!

Wow, thanks for making it this far!

You seem like you have a good head on your shoulders. I swear I don't just say that to everyone who scrolls all the way down here.
